Sunday Review 07.30.17

In case you weren't able to be with us for our time together yesterday, here's what you missed:

Worship Gatherings

  • Pastor Bill reminded us that God's people are to called to remain steadfast in the faith (1 Cor. 15:58) in light of the opposition that we will face in the world (1 Pet. 5:8-9). But that spiritual strength comes only through God Himself (Psalm 62:2), and is rooted in His faithfulness (Heb. 10:23). As we ground ourselves in God's Word, He will enable us to stand strong in the evil day (Eph. 6:10-13). You can watch the message here: Steadfastness

The Gospel Project

  • We looked at the people of Israel as an example of what happens when our faith falters. We saw that when faced with the perceived challenge of entering the promised land, they began to look at their own resources instead of God's (Num. 13:1-2,26-33), and that they forgot both what God had done and what He had promised to do for them (Num. 14:1-12). We also saw that their sin of distrust necessitated the intercession of a faithful advocate (Num. 14:13-20), which pointed us to the work of our great High Priest and Advocate, the Lord Jesus Christ (Heb. 7:25; 1 John 2:1-2).
