Sunday Review 05.28.17

In case you weren't able to be with us for our time together yesterday, here's what you missed:

The Gospel Project

  • We saw in the giving of the Ten Commandments the expression of God's love for His people (Ex. 19:1-6; 20:1-2). Commandments one and two convey the truth that God rightfully deserves first place in our lives (Ex. 20:3-6), while commandments three and four show that He deserves honor in all that we do (Ex. 20:7-11). The Law ultimately points us to Christ - the only One who has loved God completely and honored His name in all things.

Worship Gatherings

  • Pastor Rob continued our study through the book of Galatians, focusing on chapter 5, verses 22 and 23. As we began to look at the fruit of the Spirit, we saw that God Himself is love (1 John 4:8), and that we, as His children, have been given the capacity to love with His supernatural love (1 John 4:19). We ultimately saw that a demonstration of God's love is a demonstration of God's own character (1 John 4:7-17). You can watch the message here: Displaying God's Character, part 1
  • During our evening service, Pastor Bill concluded his survey of the book of Ecclesiastes with a special focus on the importance of our words in our relationship to God (Eccl. 5:1-7).
