"...and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus." - 2 Tim. 3:15
At Cornerstone Church, we spend a lot of time focused on the Bible. We place such an emphasis on the Scriptures because they are God's revelation of Himself, and they record for us the story of God's great rescue of those who had rebelled against Him. Consider what God has said about His word:
"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." - 2 Tim. 3:16-17
"For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." - 2 Pet. 1:21
"Forever, O Lord, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens." - Psalm 119:89
"Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?" - Jer. 23:29
"The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times." - Psalm 12:6
"The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple." - Psalm 119:130
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." - Psalm 119:105
So each time we gather, we focus on God's word so that our minds can be renewed (Rom. 12:2), so that we may grow (1 Pet. 2:2), and so that we may be reminded of His great grace that builds up rescued sinners (Acts 20:32).
